Click here to make a donation to the WISH Foundation, Inc. The Gamma Zeta Omega WISH (Women Involved in Service to Humanity) Foundation, Inc. was incorporated in 1988. The membership of the Foundation, which is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is comprised of all active members of Gamma Zeta Omega Chapter. It is the chapter’s vehicle to provide a variety of educational and social services to residents in the Miami-Dade County community. The Foundation was organized to stimulate the intellectual and educational advancement of all mankind by providing mentoring and tutorial reading programs, scholarships, and career guidance and counseling; providing voter registration and education; offering voluntary services for the elderly; and providing financial support to social agencies in the community. The Foundation’s signature program is the Jefferson Reaves House Women’s Residential Center Substance Abuse Treatment Facility. This center houses single women and women with their children up to five years of age. The clients undergo substance abuse rehabilitation in a residential setting. The program’s goal is to make the clients self-sufficient and prepare them to live productively upon leaving the program. The members of the Foundation implement career preparation workshops for the residents, which include job interview skills, resume’ preparation, stress reduction techniques, personal money management, work ethics, and personal grooming and communications skills. In addition, the Foundation donates toys, books, bed linens, and clothing to the center. The Foundation accepts in-kind services, contributions, and sponsorships from corporations and other organizations to help promote its goals, thereby furthering the mission of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
